Best tweet screenshot tools in 2026: websites vs Chrome extensions
A phone screenshot of a post drags in reply buttons, a sidebar and whatever else was on screen. A tweet screenshot tool redraws the post as a clean card instead. Here are seven of them, sorted by how you would actually use them.
Prices come from each tool's own pricing page and extension numbers from the Chrome Web Store, all read on October 7, 2026. Where we mention complaints, they are from public store reviews, not from our own testing.
| Tool | Type | Price or store data | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| TwitterShots | Website + API | Free plan; Pro $6.99/mo, Pro+ $12.99/mo | High volume, API and bulk work |
| Pika | Website | Free to start; Pro $15/mo, Lifetime $299 | Designing many kinds of screenshots |
| BrandBird | Website | Free plan; Pro $15/mo, Lifetime $179 | Mockups and branded graphics |
| TweetPik | Website | Free tool, now part of Tweet Hunter | An occasional quick image |
| Twitter Screenshots | Chrome extension | 6,000 users, 2.8 stars, updated Sep 2024 | Nothing we would pick today |
| Twitter Screenshot – Capture Tweets from X | Chrome extension | 497 users, 4.7 stars, updated Aug 2026 | A plain, free capture |
| Quillshot | Chrome extension | Free for 10 posts/mo; Pro $3.99/mo or $24 once | Threads as carousels, right on x.com |
Websites or extensions: the real choice
Every tool here does the same basic job: it takes a post on X and gives you a tidy image without the surrounding clutter. The difference is where you do it. With a website you copy the post's link, switch tabs, paste it and style the result. With a Chrome extension a button appears on the post itself.
Websites tend to offer more: APIs, bulk jobs, templates for other kinds of images. Extensions save the copy-and-paste step, which matters if you share posts every week.
TwitterShots: built for volume
TwitterShots is the most complete dedicated tool. Its pricing page lists Pro at $6.99 a month with unlimited manual screenshots, splitting a thread into images, custom background images and translation, and higher plans add bulk screenshots and more API credits. It also connects to Zapier, n8n and Make.
Pick it if screenshots are part of an automated workflow or you need an API. For a handful of images a week it is more than you need.
Pika and BrandBird: general screenshot designers
Pika and BrandBird are design tools for screenshots and mockups of all kinds, and posts from X are one template among many. Pika lists Pro at $15 a month or $299 once; BrandBird lists a free plan, Pro at $15 a month and a $179 lifetime deal.
They make sense if you also produce product shots, device mockups or social graphics. If tweet images are all you want, you are paying for a lot you will not use.
TweetPik: still there, under a new owner
TweetPik used to be a standalone tweet-to-image tool. Its address now redirects to a page on Tweet Hunter, which describes it as a free tool to capture and share screenshots of tweets.
It is fine for a one-off image. The page also promotes Tweet Hunter's paid product.
The older Chrome extensions
Twitter Screenshots is the largest extension in the category with 6,000 users, but its store page shows a 2.8-star rating and no update since September 2024. Reviews over the years mention long posts being cut off at "Show more" and images being cropped.
Twitter Screenshot – Capture Tweets from X is small, at 497 users, but well rated at 4.7 stars, was updated in August 2026 and lists no in-app purchases. It is a sensible free choice for single posts.
Quillshot: one click on the post, threads as carousels
This one is ours, so read it with that in mind. We built Quillshot around the complaints above. A camera button appears on every post on x.com; long posts, quoted posts and photos are laid out in full, and the image follows X's light or dark mode. Pro exports a whole thread as numbered slides in one zip, ready for Instagram or LinkedIn, with your own background, handle and logo.
It is new, so it has few users and no reviews yet. It has no API and no bulk mode, and it only works in desktop Chrome-based browsers. It is free for 10 posts a month; Pro is $3.99 a month or $24 once. There is no account and no tracking.
Which one should you pick?
- You need an API or bulk screenshots: TwitterShots
- You design mockups and other graphics too: Pika or BrandBird
- You want one free image, once: TweetPik
- You want a free, plain capture button: Twitter Screenshot – Capture Tweets from X
- You turn threads into carousels every week: Quillshot
Questions
How do I screenshot a tweet without the buttons and replies?
Use a tweet-to-image tool instead of your device's screenshot. Each tool on this page redraws the post as a clean card, so there are no reply buttons, sidebars or cropped edges.
Can I turn a whole X thread into Instagram or LinkedIn carousel slides?
Yes. TwitterShots Pro splits a thread into images, and Quillshot Pro exports each post of a thread as a numbered slide in one zip.
Is there a tweet screenshot tool with a one-time price?
Quillshot Pro is $24 once. Pika ($299) and BrandBird ($179) also list lifetime deals, though they are broader design tools.
